Clinic History

Cornerstone Medical Clinic began as Internal Medicine Physicians in 1975. Founded by Dr. David Williams, Internal Medicine Physicians was located at 315 S. Holton. In 1977 they changed their name to Yakima Valley Internists and Dr. Timothy Melhorn joined the group, for a total of four physicians.

In 1983, the group built the first half of the current location on S. 12th Avenue and added their sixth Physician. In 1996, the second half of the current location was completed.

In 1994, the group purchased two practices; Dr. Ellison's practice and West Yakima Family Physicians. No longer all Internists, a contest ensued among employees and the practice was re-named Cornerstone in 1994.

Cornerstone has always been progressive with regard to technology. Over the last several years Cornerstone has been a primary site for development of an EMR system that interfaces with lab and radiology, allowing for a rapid transfer of clinic patient data.

Through the years Cornerstone's focus has remained; Excellent medical care, delivered compassionately while improving the health of our community.
